Hot Springs near Rexburg

Rexburg is fun but sometimes you just have to get away from the city for a while. One of my favorite things to do is to go to a Hot Spring and go hiking. There are many of them nearby Rexburg and they usually have many activities as well. It is relaxing to swim in the warm water as well. Plus there are always nice camping spots nearby. I will talk about each hot spring below and some highlights of each.

Heis Hot Springs
Distance from Rexburg: 20 miles by Ririe and Rigby

It is next to Idaho Falls which brings the cold weather. It goes from 0 – 20 degrees in the winter time. Since it is next to Rigby it is not that far to drive and it can be fun to spend the day exploring around the springs.

Green Canyon Hot Springs
Distance from Rexburg: 25 miles

The spring is 115 degrees but there is a big pool that is around 96 and a hot pool that is 105 degrees. There are swimming lessons available. The spring is not open all year long. The spring was first found in 1903 and was called Pincock Hot Springs. There is hiking and fishing as well as swimming.

Lava Hot Springs
Distance from Rexburg: 112 miles

There is plenty to do at Lava Hot Springs with 9 holes of golf and a great river nearby to go tubing and fishing weather permitting. The actual hot spring has a 33 foot tower to dive from. It is south of Pocatelo and is 11 miles from the I-15 so it’s easy to get to.

A 20,000 pool is set up with a snow melt system to make the water cooler than most of the pools around the hot spring. The water around here is very popular and it is the biggest hot spring around.

Datona Hot Springs
Distance from Rexburg: 114 miles

The spring gets to 112 degrees and the pool is 85 to 99 degrees and 10 degrees hotter in the winter. The water is chlorinated and there are water slides and a hot tub plus a playground for the kids. About 600 gallons of water is being fed to the pool every minute. There is a creek that get fed from any extra water from the pool.

Warm Hot Springs
Distance from Rexburg: 200 miles

The water gets up to 103 to 105 degrees. There is a great primitive campground after a grueling hike up. It is suggested that an overnighter would be a good idea so you can enjoy yourself properly. It is a long drive so that is another reason to spend over night in this spring.
